Workflow refers to the flow or progress of work in a project from start to finish. The work in this case is taking a relatively large video clip and extracting a snippet that will then be used with other snippets or still images to create a video. The diagram shows how I start with video from the camcorder and the settings used to create the snippet. It is not necessarily the best way, merely a process that I find useful to create my finished product which in most cases is a DVD. At each stage of the process different software packages are used to view, categorize, edit, modify, and rename an image, as well as render and burn the final product. Various file types (wav, mp3, jpeg, psd, etc.) are used throughout the process. The file type have been selected to keep the highest quality image, while keeping in mind the resolution of the final product which is almost always a DVD. For example, a printed photograph requires a much higher resolution than a web page or television. The red lines indicate the most often used workflow path.
